Prince William County Animal Shelter

Cole & Denny Architects designed the new 28,000 SF Prince William County Animal Services Center, replacing the aging original facility on the same site. With over 4,100 animals received and 85,000 visitors annually, the new center was designed to meet modern standards of care and serve as both an animal shelter and a vibrant community hub.

The facility features state-of-the-art daylighting, hospital-grade HVAC systems, species-appropriate housing, and sustainable design strategies. A community room adjacent to the main lobby hosts enrichment programs and training classes, while indoor greeting rooms, outdoor play yards, and a five-acre forested trail support adoption and engagement.

Designed to meet the Association of Shelter Veterinarians’ Standards of Care, the new Center enhances public interaction, promotes animal well-being, and reflects the County’s commitment to innovation and community service.
