Mount Vernon Museum Renovation

This project renovates 5,800 SF of museum gallery space at George Washington’s Mount Vernon in Alexandria, VA. Cole & Denny Architects provided design and construction-phase services to modernize the galleries while preserving their architectural histroy. The renovation introduced new finishes, improved circulation, and integrated interactive displays to support the updated historic exhibits.

Special attention was given to ensure that the refreshed finishes enhance the visitor experience without detracting from the artifacts on display. The existing geometric harmony of the galleries was carefully maintained, and new lighting was thoughtfully designed to highlight the historic items while providing a balanced, museum environment.
